Vigilance The Word For Enfield Montessori Survival: Rally Monday, Oct. 16, 6 p.m.

Rally Comments And Notice:

Even though we won the case for the parking lot, we are not done and there are still other issues with the town so presence at the Oct. 16 rally is just as important as it ever was.

Monday, 10/16/06, rain/shine/snow/sleet. Bring a flashlight.

It is with great pleasure that we inform you that The Honorable Judge Rittenband of Hartford Superior Court has ruled in the school's favor regarding the lawsuit pertaining to the use of our existing parking area. We would like to personally thank all of the parents, their families and friends who have come to our aid. We have always been confidant that our actions regarding the parking area and the lawsuits have been both appropriate and necessary for the safety of our children and the continuation of our efforts here at EMS. The truth has finally prevailed, and we thank you all for your prayers and support.

While this is good news, and we are truly thankful for an honest and factual review of our case, we are still not finished with our legal problems. And we have been told, on the record, that if the Planning and Zoning Department did not prevail in front of Judge Rittenband that they would appeal his decision. We need to continue our efforts to show the Town officials that we can not rest on this decision alone. We have other matters pending with the Town and are awaiting the promised appeal.

In light of this situation, we are planning a gathering at the Enfield Town Green on Monday, October 16th at 6:00, prior to the scheduled Town Council meeting. Please join us, with your family and friends, to show your support for EMS. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. This date is already scheduled in the school calendar as a Parent Meeting, and we would hope to see all parents, children and their families and friends in attendance. And if you have not contacted Town officials, please do so. This nonsense needs to stop so we can focus fully on the education of our children.

Please come on down to the "Gathering on the Enfield Town Green" and support the Sisters.

A follow up on the parking area:

The Town of Enfield Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) meet last Thursday evening October 5th, 2006. The PZC members meet in executive session (so citizens of Enfield are not able to know what was said by the PZC members). Why executive session? Should not the taxpayers of Enfield know why $16,000+ dollars were spent on this matter?

After the executive session, the PZC members did not vote to appeal Judge Rittenband's decision nor did the members of PZC vote not to appeal Judge Rittenband's decision in favor of the Sister's 60 plus year old parking area.

It appears that the members of the PZC will let the October 13th 2006 deadline to appeal the Judge's decision pass without a formal comment.
