(Come early if you want a seat)
For the past 3 months, CT teens have been taking the stage and spinning word webs for audiences throughout CT (Buttonwood Tree in Middletown, Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Charter Oak Cultural Center in Hartford) to earn a spot in the CT Youth Slam FINALS. These events have been hugely inspiring and all the teen poets who participated deserve a huge round of applause and congratulations!
On Friday, March 16 at the Buttonwood Tree in Middletown, CT the top 12 poets will rock the mic, twisting verse like lyrical pretzels to determine who will be the CT National Youth Poetry Slam Team 2007. The top 4 poets will become the CT team 2007, representing CT for the next year. The poets in 5th and 6th place will be the alternates for the team.
As a team, we will practice and perform at venues and schools throughout the northeast. In July, we will travel to San Jose, CA for Brave New Voices / International Youth Poetry Slam and Festival. If you would like to inquire about a booking, please email directly to upwordspoetry@earthlink.net and type ‘One Word CT Youth Slam’ in the Subject line. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Be there on March 16 to celebrate and support these young CT voices!
