Run for higher office? Which? Tallarita's a state employee... Would he really leave Labor Dept for the state house? Or might it not be an issue?

And
Enfield Council Comments

It is nice to see younger people getting involved such as Jason Jones and Dave Kiner. Jason is running on his own merits; Dave on the other hand will run on his fathers. Jason also owns a home in town and pays taxes, can Dave say the same? Property tax relief but raise education spending and tax relief for seniors. How does he propose to do this without raising taxes for the rest of us? How about you do not spend what you do not have for a start? How about do not raise the taxes for any of us,that is the same as a tax freeze and we all benefit. Before you speak, you shoud think about what you say and remember your father lost to John Kissel. Ever wounder why, Jason has also lost for the council in the past? Yes, but so did Scott Kaupin when he first ran and look at him now! Good luck to both of you, and stand by your word. you both should try going to council meetings before you run, Get up to speed on what is going on with the town. Hope to see you both at the next meeting!!

Dorks? Now ain't that just down right childish. Let's put it this way,Tallarita, as the mayor, hasn't tried very hard to help the good Sisters. As mayor, he's been pretty useless to them. Been too busy building those two new houses behind their property.

This "little blog" speaks the truth. Which is why a few people like you, take snide shots at it. The truth scares some people.

Three "cheers" for the interest of some much needed new blood in Enfield politics. However, please don't get caught up in this "old boys'club" atmosphere. Or expect a family "name" to open doors, or grant you special "favors". Kissel is great rep. He'll be tough to beat by anyone (especially a newcomer) because people see him as the real deal.

OK, where are all the interested Enfield women? Why aren't there more serving on the Council these days? And what about minorities? The current Enfield Council is predominately white, middle-age, businessmen. Yet Enfield is so much more than the make-up of this current Council. They certainly don't reflect everyone in Enfield.

While its great to have some younger people interested, it would certainly help if they too were homeowners, and paying these hefty taxes. Then they'd know exactly how it feels to be pinched for cash because of Council decisions.

As a State taxpayer I don't want any state employees also holding down a state office on my tax dollar. He's probably overpaid as it is, but he better not think he can be sitting up in the Capital when he's suppose to be working at DOL. People will be watching. That is if he's successful running for any higher office. That comment may have just been a smokescreen for his departure.

I agree it's time to get rid of the dead weight on the Council. I have watched a lot of these meetings on TV and there are a select few who ALWAYS play follow the leader - well, now that the leader is going to pursue "higher office", it's time to get rid of these people who can't seem to make a simple decision on their own and will forever be blindsighted by the "wonder" of our Mayor. I honestly hope to see the minority turn into the MAJORITY and watch some real savings begin - they seem to know how to tighten the purse strings and aren't afraid to say make some tough decisions. It is what our Town needs and deserves.

Women running for office was mentioned. What about Sue Lavelli-Hozempa- She has done a great job on the BOE. She is young and attractive and smart. She ran for state rep against the mayors sister and she ran on lower taxes and more accountabilty in government. I hope to see her run for a higher office again and kick his sister out. Then maybe we can all see some real tax relief.

I don't see the cool in this cool justice blog. It is obviously people from my own party still mad because this is a difficult time to be a Republican. The Republican party I know was once proud and represented issues that were important to the voters. And we won nationally and locally. Now disgruntled, we have stooped to name calling and rumor mongering. I wish Mary Lou was alive to bring us back from the depths to which we've sunk. Do you think this will make the front page of Mr. T's Cool page?

If anyone thinks this isn't manipulated and biased, just look at the disclaimer on the bottom of the comments box. "Comment moderation has been enabled. All comments must be approved by the blog author." So much for free speech.

Look back at some of the things that were being posted in the fall when comments weren't being moderated. Some slanderous things ended up being posted anonymously. Andy can't monitor the blog 24/7. That plus spam is probably why comment moderation is in place.

I know for a fact that anything I've sent to this blog, has "appeared" as is. Nothing has ever been edited. Its been about as free as free can be. Were your comments above edited?

Again, there are a few out there scared to death by this blog. Just why, is anyone's guess. But this blog isn't the problem. The problem is the activities of a few Enfield officials. This blog is only helping to open the eyes of the uninformed.

Folks from both parties sorely miss
the honorable Mayor Strom. She was a class act when Enfield was considered a classy town. Funny how quickly things have changed in a couple of terms.

A lot of repair work needs to occur on both sides before residents feel the same about their town officials. First step is to clean house. Out with the current members who have simply followed their leader. Its every voter's responsibility to elect the best people available. And to stop voting because a last name sounds familiar. Nepotism is a curse.

Trust me, I don't care if someone is young. And I really don't care if someone is attractive. I want honest and smart candidates. People who aren't afraid to speak their minds about ways to save taxpayers' money. If she's all of these, and decides to run, then she'll get my vote. Its that simple.
