Don't Pick On JI

Ah, give the JI a break. Was at Fermi High game last week and overheard JI staffer asking the Fermi High principal when the players would be returning to "Love Canal" fields? ("Love Canal" reference is re: the Fermi athletic fields constructed on the contaminated high school grounds, which has made their athletic field situation a laughing stock in CCC the last 2 years.)

So don't pick on JI - the staff does know what's going on in Enfield. And they can even make a joke about it. Though many in Enfield can't take one.

The Fermi High boys' soccer team made the State finals last year, and their girls' soccer team has made the state tourney. So they're nothing to laugh about (even though they do play on a rec field next a nursing home).

The Fermi High football team, well, that's a whole other story. Not sure a $ million dollar athletic field is going to help or change the outcome of another dismal season.

But I'm sure the JI will be there to report on the teams progress and their scores! I believe the JI has always done their best to cover local happenings. Even when some of the happenings are embarassing to some towns.

Not everyone is laughing about this situation. There are plenty of opponents (not to mention, their parents) who are very leery about returning to the Fermi High home athletic fields.

And from what I've heard at some games, most Enfield taxpayers are none too happy about the way this project was handled. It has been an expensive, on-going saga for almost 2 years.

OK, if the Fermi High school renovated athletic fields are jokingly known in the area as "love canal", what Enfield's latest condo proposal (slated to be built on Simon Ed, near Scantic Rivershed) going to be dubbed,
    "Three Mile Island"?

Because one of the condo's surrounding neighborhoods has already had well documented cases of illnesses because it was once a toxic dumping ground.

What's with those people up there? Don't they run any soil/water tests before approving or building?

Isn't that the project also headed by Mayor Cocoa Puff's real-estate savvy wife and her wheelin', dealin' sidekicks, the Fredricks?

Who in today's housing market, has $300K to plunk down on "green" condos in Enfield?Especially "green" condos
built near a former toxic waste site?

East Windsor is also building some luxury apartments less than 2 miles down the road (also near Scantic River). Where will all these new rich tenants/owners be coming from?? Simon Rd in Enfield is going to get a lot busier when all these new housing complexes are completed.

I do find the way the old blog website was more user friendly. You've got some big print that just comes at you. Haven't seen much on good old Enfield lately. I hope they haven't scared you out of here. You used to have all the info so with you not reporting and the papers not reporting we don't know what is really going on. Come back to us.
