And His Record Does Not Help The New Congressman ....

While this unfortunate incident occurred months ago, didn't Enfield Mayor Cocoa admit in an earlier statement to papers, that he likley made a gesture towards Mr Mancuso and his children @ the Enfield Shaw's?
One can only guess what that gesture was, but since Mayor Cocoa admitted this earlier, where's the confusion as to whether he "did this" or not.
Certainly appears that he was totally out of line to verbally attack anyone, anywhere. Especially with children involved. Take about a class-less act. He never ceases to amaze (what's amazing is that some Enfield folks were duped to have elected him to public office).
Trust me, not all State employees are like the former Enfield mayor.

Hard to believe. Wonder what Joe Courtney thinks about his ol'bud, Pat Tallarita? Probably not accepting any phone calls or invits from him these days. Would be political suicide to continue to be "buddy buddy" with such a loose cannon.

These issues, incidentally, have everything to do with why Courtney will likely lose Enfield in 2008.
Because of the turmoil with Mayor Tallarita, Courtney has pointedly avoided visits to Enfield, lest he have to share the stage. These visits point to a lack of care. Since he took over, Enfield hasn't gotten the attention it received when Rob Simmons was the Congressman.
Courtney has also done a very poor job with constituent services. His office has failed to address the concerns about issues and legislation that I have raised in various letters. The level of sloppiness is incredible. There have been instances when I wrote about one bill and got a reply about a completely different bill. This shows what our letters and emails are worth- absolutely nothing.
Enfield deserves better representation. We need a Congressman who remembers that his constituents are his customers, not a proletariat to be manipulated.

How much longer do we have to keep talking about Tallarita? He's old news.
Let's turn our attention to the new regime. Will it be business as usual in Enfield? Will wealthy developers still exert undue sway over local government? Or will the Republicans bring forth a new age in which taxes are cut, wasteful spending is ended and the good ol' boys are left out in the cold?
We'll just have to wait and see.
Also, when is the state attorney going to wrap up his Enfield investigation. That's gone on for some time now. Where are the indictments?
All of "this" must still be considered "newsworthy" if the Courant and JI are covering it? Its not like this blog is the only place one reads about it. Right?

Simmons used to be in Enfield all the time. He marched in all their parades. Don't recall if Courtney
was in Enfield's Veterans Day parade this year.
Last I remember, two of Enfield's Town Council reps went to see Joe
in Washington, and although one (Rep) wanted to draw his attention to the number of foreclosures in Enfield, the other rep (Democrat)
was mainly interested in him providing funds to the rundown, old Strand Theatre in T-Ville.
Oh yeah, like that's an important initative right now when people can't keep their homes, or pay for gas or heating oil. As they say in that commerical, "DAH".
Rob Simmons was good but his time came to an end. Joe Courtney came to Enfield many times but not to the same fanfare as Rob did. That in itself is goodness and people appreciate it. I saw Joe at the senior center and one could see the personal connections he had with the seniors. Again Rob was good for awhile but now is Joe's time.
If I were him, I too would distance myself from the old mayor. Wouldn't you?
>> If I were him, I too would distance myself from the old mayor. Wouldn't you?
One would only have to distance themselves from "someone" (such as the former mayor) IF they were close in the 1st place. Appears someone didn't do their homework when he chose to "buddy-up" with Cocoa in the 1st place. Courtney is likely far more careful who's a part of his team now.

He's so old news that the JI initially listed him as an "unknown" in a photo they ran after the elections. That comment must have bruised the ol'ego.
