Poet Pit Pinegar To Read Sunday At Hill-Stead

Pit Menousek Pinegar is a poet, novelist, essayist, playwright and photographer. Author of three collections of poetry (Nine Years Between Two Poems, The Possibilities of Empty Space, and The Physics of Transmigration , nominated for a 2006 Pulitzer Prize), she was a featured reader in the first season of Hill-Stead's Sunken Garden Poetry Festival and again in the Festival's 10th anniversary in August, 2001. For several years she has directed the Festival's Urban Outreach Program for aspiring Hartford high school poets. Her poems have appeared in Tar River Poetry, Kalliope, Connecticut Review, Rattle, Potomac Review and the Texas Review, among many other periodicals.

Pinegar's reading at 1 pm is part of a day-long celebration of the 141st birthday of Hill-Stead's pioneering founder, Theodate Pope Riddle. From 11 am to 4 pm, view Impressionist masterpieces at your own pace, with interpreters on hand to answer questions. At 3 pm, enjoy a slice of birthday cake and a champagne toast. Admission is free to the public.
