Sandy Taylor Memorial Poetry Reading Fri., Jan. 4

Greetings,

As you all probably know by now, our community lost a very special man [last month], Sandy Taylor. Sandy was the Publisher at Curbstone Press, Willimantic's own publisher of novels and poetry. Through the Living Literature program, Sandy connected our students with real-life published poets and authors and inspired many of them to attempt writing of their own. He also allowed Windham High School's Young Poets to conduct the first of many poetry nights in Julia de Burgos Park, a beautiful setting sponsored by the company where our budding poets found their passion.

Because of this and many other gifts Sandy bestowed upon this community, we feel it only fitting to honor all that he has done for us and others.

In honor of Sandy, Windham High School students and faculty will be hosting a "Candlelight" Memorial Poetry Reading in the WHS auditorium at 6 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2008. The Young Poets will be performing and faculty and community members will be sharing their own pieces of writing as well. Anyone else who would like to share is welcome to participate.

We would like to invite you and any other community members to attend and honor this man that spent his life inspiring our students to find their voices.

Thank you and have a happy and safe holiday.

Sincerely,

Pam Neidig
