Lame Library Bosses
Boot Speaker In Clear Violation Of American Library Association Guidelines
And, Oh Yeah,
The Freaking Constitution
Greenwich Library has canceled two lectures by a group called If Americans Knew, which has been critical of the media's coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian crisis.
The group's director, Alison Weir, said she plans to come to Greenwich anyway, with the expectation that its presentation, "Israel-Palestine: Beyond the Headlines," will proceed as scheduled.

Shockingly, the ALA's Office for Intellectual Freedom actually criticized the library in this case. Usually it's the Office for Intellectual Freedom to Think as the ALA Directs You. This matter presents a refreshing change of pace:
"The policy of a library still has to conform with legal requirements, and as a government agency, they're subject to the First Amendment," [Deborah Caldwell-Stone, deputy director of the American Library Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom] said. "They can put in a clause about 'public sensitivity,' but as a government-funded agency you can't engage in viewpoint discrimination or content-based discrimination unless you can meet a very high legal standard."
