Yikes! "Please keep the former Mayor away from any Clean Energy committee ..."

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Cocoa Puffs Surfaces":

"Cocoa Puffs, aka former Enfield Mayor Patrick Tallarita, has put himself forward as a candidate for the town Clean Energy Committee."

Perhaps former Mayor Tat. learned a thing or two when Enfield was working with DEP to clean up the contraminated soil from Fermi High field (before those field renovations could even begin and what did that add to the cost of project, another $2+ million).

But wait, didn't Enfield then turn around and purchase tainted soil from another vendor, to cap this project. Dahhh.

Please keep the former Mayor away from any Clean Energy committee cuz his administration already botched up enough things in Enfield. It will be years before the high school's contaminated field projects will be paid off.

Yes indeed, please keep the former Mayor far away from any Enfield committees or projects. That initial $5.7 million dollar
high school athletic field renovation project has been a lemon. Not only is it way over budget (soil removal and recapping cost almost another $3 million), but the students can't even used the renovated football field for their high school graduation.
The $$$$ football field has been used one time since it was completed in Nov'07.

Now the Town will have to pay a few more $$$ thousands to hold the graduation ceremony out of town (although Enfield students have voted and they want their graduation @ their high schools, not out of town). At no time during this renovation project was
this information shared with the public. Why is that?

Last year the "excuse" given was the renovated Fermi High fields would not be ready in time for graduation. This year the excuse is that the renovated fields can't withstand the chairs and foot traffic of a ceremony (but they can withstand a football game or a soccer game). So it will cost the Town another $30K to purchase a special cover.

Remember, Mayor Cocoa was at the helm during all of this tainted soil removal and field construction. Believe one of his kids even serves on the building committee.

Tainted soil detected & removed, later capped with more tainted soil, a project way over budget, and now they're moving graduation ceremonies out of town. The former mayor has left quite an expensive legacy. Enough already. Taxpayers can't afford to have him involved with another more. Its way too costly.

Hopefully by now majority of Enfield are wise to Cocoa's motives. Appears he's bound and determined to get back into the mix, and since he and his business partner were turned down to build their eco-friendly condos on Simon Rd, likely figured volunteering for the "Clean Energy" subcommittee was a great way to push through his private agenda.

Not sure who has to approve this appointment, but hopefully they're not fooled by any of this.

If anything should be done on Simon Rd, its "open" that Scantic River park to the public. The way the donor intended it to be used.

Channel 3 news just reported that South Windsor was considering the installation of synthetic athletic field @ their high school, but their Council was concerned about the cost. Could be $2 million, and most schools/towns seek financial aid from grants, or donations for such.

Boy, did Enfield take it on the kisser with their "field of nightmares" (not dreams). Again, this all occurred under the watchful eye of former Mayor Tallarita.

Not only didn't Tat and Co. bother to secure any State funding prior to the renovations, or look for donations (as occurred @ Suffield High), but Enfield didn't even check the soil before construction was planned. How could no one know that soil was contaminated? Its a former tobacco farm.

Now the Town of Enfield will be in hole almost $9 million dollars for
two high school football fields that very few will ever get to use.

South Windsor has the right idea. Don't jump into expensive projects
until seeking out other revenue streams. Hitting up the local taxpayers should be a last resort
and likely a good enough reason not to take on such an expense.

If Cocoa wants to be on a committee, tell him to form one with his sister and get some State aid for that contamination mess.

why exactly would Enfield parents and school officials advocate holding high school graduation out of town? with so many recent teen drivers death and injuries, why would parents and BOE want students driving further, to a strange area, for one of the biggest events of their young life. sounds like they're just inviting trouble.

can't believe there's not a suitable location in Enfield to hold a graduation. for umpteen years Enfield students have been able to graduate @ their high school. why can't that continue?

think too of all the gas used by families and students to travel out of town. how "un-green" is that?

Cocoa Puff should contact his old buddy, former Enfield Town Manager, Scott Shanley, since Manchester was just awarded a "clean energy" award. wouldn't that be a kick in the pants for Puffy?
