In a new report to the state legislature, the Connecticut State University System said that unprecedented collaborations between university faculty and high school teachers in select school districts are dramatically improving the college-readiness of high school graduates.
The initiative, “Building a Bridge to Improve Student Success,” has started in recent years at Central, Eastern, Southern and Western Connecticut State Universities, as faculty in English and mathematics have begun working with local school districts in Danbury, Bethel, Hamden, New Haven, Meriden, Norwich, Windham and New Britain. The report found that the “programs are involving nine high schools and hundreds of high school teachers, and impacting thousands of Connecticut children.”
