LITCHFIELD – Litchfield’s Republican Party on Sunday [the day removal of a yellow ribbon from the town green was videotaped] got to meet U.S. Senate candidate Rob Simmons and the four Republicans seeking the nod to run for Congress in the 5th District.
The GOP held an election year warmup at the South Street home of Jim and Victoria Sansing [member of the board of warden and burgesses] to give its members a chance to become familiar with the platforms of the five candidates [not mentioned are 2 other GOP candidates for U.S. Senate, Linda McMahon and Peter Schiff].
“We thought it would provide the party, in a very important election year, with an opportunity to speak with the candidates and find out what they stand for,” Victoria Sansing said.
