Emily M. Olson is the editor of the Foothills Media Group weekly newspapers in Avon, Canton, Simsbury, Granby, Litchfield and Thomaston. She previously worked for Housatonic Publications and The Litchfield County Times where she was the editor of The Litchfield Enquirer and The New Milford Times.
Before returning to college to earn her degree, she worked as a bank teller, a bank operations staff member, and in the box office at the Palace Theater in Stamford, as well as at a retail nursery in Fairfield County.
Emily is a 1997 graduate of Western Ct State University where she received a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in journalism.
She has worked for several weekly and daily newspapers in Connecticut as well as The Patent Trader weekly publication in Westchester County, New York - her first job after graduation. For several years she also taught journalism and creative writing classes and worked with the staff of The Echo newspaper at WCSU, which was one of the most exciting periods of her career and something she hopes to pursue in the future.
She is a resident of New Milford and engaged to be married to Ken Fisher in June.
