SOUTHBURY – There’s a new cop on the job at the Troop A barracks off busy Interstate I-84: They call him Trooper Smurf. Trooper Smurf arrived May 17, and he just got a makeover today. Now complete with a camera, it appears Trooper Smurf – aka emergency call box – will be the new face of the state police during certain hours.
