More about Gina Devaux:
Devaux began her career in the social services, working initially with developmentally disabled adults and later with adolescent girls with psychiatric and emotional disorders. Her work with teen girls eventually led her back to education where, as a high school language teacher, she was able to put her years living abroad to good use! She joined the team at Susan B. Anthony Project in 2010 as a Community Educator doing prevention education in the schools and transitioned to Development Director in 2013.
Second to providing victims of violence with the critical services that they need for safety, healing and growth, what she loves most about her work is meeting and spending time with the many dedicated and inspirational individuals in the community that create positive change. The members of the Litchfield Rotary, and Rotarians worldwide, are among these amazing people and she looks forward to getting to know everyone better. She believes that collaboration is the key to making positive change happen and that, at the end of the day, the good work being done in the community positively affects us all.
Testimonial:
“My son and I came to Susan B. Anthony Project as victims of domestic violence. I found the courage to leave when my 9 year old son said, ‘Mom, when can I divorce dad?’ I thought I was staying to protect him. We left the next day. That was our first year on our own.
Susan B. Anthony Project helped us find a place to call home. A real home, not just a house. A home where we could be safe, relax, invite friends and family over without fear.
I started attending a Domestic Violence support group at SBAP and what strength I gathered! As the leaves changed, so did we. My son and I are together now in our home, safe, and beginning our new life together. I have a full-time job working as a teacher’s aide. My son is in school and we are thriving.”
