Randy Mountz Joins PayPerPost
As Vice President Of Sales

Former MySpace Sales Executive Brings
Extensive New Media, Interactive Advertising Experience;
Candidate Enticed by Videos Created by PayPerPost Bloggers

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PayPerPost, the leading marketplace for advertisers to reach bloggers, videographers, photographers, podcasters and social networks, today announced that Randy Mountz, former vice president of sales for MySpace.com’s Midwest region, has joined PayPerPost as the company’s vice president of sales, a new position. In his new role, Mountz will build PayPerPost’s inside and outside sales staff while also leveraging his considerable relationships within the U.S. advertising community to quickly grow PayPerPost’s client base.

In a novel move, PayPerPost utilized the its own platform to assist in recruiting Mountz. The company paid a handful of the consumer content generators in its network to create Web videos designed to entice Mountz to join the PayPerPost team. The videos, posted on YouTube, demonstrated the power of the platform to Mountz, and were instrumental in attracting Mountz to his new position.

Mountz brings to PayPerPost an extensive background in traditional and new media advertising sales, much of it gained through relationships with America’s largest advertising agencies and corporate advertisers. At MySpace.com he sold advertising programs to many top marketers including Anheuser Busch, Daimler Chrysler, McDonalds, Nintendo, Target and Wendy’s; he also established a sales program that is currently on a pace to increase MySpace regional revenues more than twentyfold from fiscal 2005 to fiscal 2007.

In his prior role as director of sales for AOL Media Networks, Mountz established a strong relationship with Procter &Gamble, resulting in the shift of millions of advertising dollars from traditional broadcast and print media to the online category. Mountz also worked closely with AOL’s VP/Sales to build a sales team that generated millions of dollars in annualized revenue for the company.

“Randy is a highly-energized interactive advertising veteran who understands the value and potential of online media to major marketers,” said Ted Murphy, chief executive officer of PayPerPost. “He not only has an incredible network of decision-makers in the advertising world, but also proven executive and managerial experience. Randy represents an investment in the future of PayPerPost—an investment that we know will generate strong returns in both visibility and revenue.”

“PayPerPost is a prime example of the evolving face of the Web,” said Mountz. “By putting the user in control of content—the essence of Consumer Generated Advertising—remarkable new opportunities are emerging for marketers. I believe PayPerPost has a wonderful story to tell, as was evidenced by the fun and enticing videos that so many PayPerPost bloggers posted on YouTube for my benefit. It will be exciting for me personally to build a national sales organization to bring the company’s story to advertisers in all kinds of industries across the U.S.”

PayPerPost bloggers posted their “recruiting videos” on YouTube over several days during the time Mountz was considering his move. The company paid $20 for each video blog posting created by its members. The videos were a combination of entertaining monologues and creative skits using both people and props to convey the unique culture of the company and opportunity for Mountz.

Broad Background

In addition to his prior roles with MySpace and AOL, Mountz served as director of sales at several leading online and offline media companies including Tellme, Mvalue.com, Advertising Age and Gannett Corporation. He gained experience early in his career at the Chicago Tribune as well as Cass Communications, where as Midwest regional vice president he not only managed a large sales staff but also increased regional revenues sevenfold over a four-year period.

Mountz holds a B.S. degree in journalism from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He can be reached at randy@payperpost.com or by cell at 773-255-2420.
