Helping Disabled Troops

"This event is not an endorsement of the war, nor a criticism of it ... No matter what your feelings are about the war, the fact remains that good soldiers have fought and died in the conflict and many more have been left permanently and horribly disabled ... "

I am a retired Army Officer, off active duty in 1996, who came out of retirement in 2002 to fight over in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm now back to work as a lawyer at, Newman Creed & Associates. It is horrible what is happening to our good soldiers and we want to help out on a meaningful way. So we have partnered up with, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed American Veterans, to host a fund raising event in support of the Fisher House Foundation which builds and maintains long term residential facilities near military hospitals nationwide. The families of seriously injured soldiers need a place to stay during the long rehabilitation process. This is a vital need which is not covered by any other resource. Currently there are over 30 million dollars invested in supporting over 32 Fisher Houses nationwide. Since 1990 they have provided services to over 8,500 military families who have stayed more than 1.5 million days, supporting their soldier during rehabilitation. The facilities are supported by contributions and openings are granted in reverse order of rank, so that the lower enlisted soldiers, get first chance at the housing.

On Saturday morning, May 26th, 2007, Memorial Day Weekend, at 10:00 am we will host a 5 k road race around Memorial Boulevard in Bristol, Ct. A 100% your tax deductible donation of $50 will support the Fisher House Foundation. Each donor will receive a "T" shirt with small American Flag on the left shoulder. This event is not an endorsement of the War, nor a criticism of it, the event is simply focused on helping the troops and their families.

Even if running, or walking, the course is, not your thing , I would ask that you still please support these disabled soldiers by sending in your check with the enclosed registration form. I can be reached by email at; kcreed@newmancreedlaw.com, or phone at (860) 583-5200, toll free 888-300-4469, cell 459-0190.

No matter what your feelings are about the War, the fact remains that good soldiers have fought and died in the conflict and many more have been left permanently and horribly disabled. I need to get the word out about this event. Also it would be a good test of the effectiveness of advertizing on the radio. Please see the attached flyers
