Let the political games begin in Enfield. Maybe T-Ville will get a new advocate in the State Capital?
But Enfield is still waiting for fiscal bailout from Rep. Tallarita and Amann to cover all those $$$ cost overruns for the Fermi athletic field fiasco.

The news is big tony threw a major tantrum at his first town meeting. The committee people were running for the door! Now he tells his friends and customers everything is OK becuase his close friend and last chairman is helping make him be a good guy.
Now Jarmoc's JI article says she pulled away fearing issues in her party. The odds are big tony is one of the issues that scared her back to the state representative seat.

Where is Roxy when we need him.

The big ones fall and keep falling and Mt Caramel must be proud of their members.

Remember when mayor Tat was tossed from office and then his own town committee. Now his sister is getting the same because Lou Fiore, one time Tat best friend and deputy mayor, announced he's after her seat in the state legislature.

Remember exP&Z chief Tony? He took over the Democratics and in his first meeting as prez he blew a major gasket and had members running for the door. The word from downtown is an impeachment is coming before he hurts somebody.

Mt Caramel must be proud of their boys. Because of them the spotlight is on the bingo money and now their new parking lot. Some special state boys are making calls again. Who says no one watches the blogs.

>It could be a great venue and an attraction for the area but it looks beat and it needs of big repairs.

If folks want to see great local theatre, they can take a short ride to Broad Brook to the playhouse there (Broad Brook, unlike Enfield, was successful in renovating a structure for this purprose). The two Enfield high schools and community college also put on performances and have venues that could be utilized by other groups. The Strand Theatre is a lost cause. Need to let that concept go. Taxpayers don't want to pump their hard earned $$$ into that venture.

The pond, well, there's another "pie-in-the-sky" dream. The idea of skating out there fell apart quickly (how many times has people been allowed to skate there. How many times was it "lite" for evening activities?

There's a kids' fishing contest in the spring, but that pond is a mud hole. There's better fishing @ pond near St Martha's, and there's no druggies and drunks stumbling by.

The Enfield "visonaries" are local-yokals, trying to re-live their childhood days in T-ville. Please tell them to give it up and face facts.

Thanks for the laugh. The idea of anyone ever safely parking their car at the newly proposed train station in Thompsonville is a good one.
I used to live nearby in the Bigelow Apartments. My car was broken into more times than I could count. Many of my neighbors cars have been vandalized with some higher end car models being stolen altogether!
If Enfield's Chief of Police really wants to make a change in T-Ville, He should quit acting as the president of Mount Carmel. He needs to get off his fat lazy ass and serve the people of T-Ville, not
some exclusive club that won't allow a citizen of Enfield to join unless they are of Italian descent.
Maybe then he can find it in himself to really make a change for all of the people of Enfield, not just himself.
Again, thanks for the laugh.

I agree. It's been said that nostalgia is a mild form of depression. T-ville will never be brought back to the days of old. It's too expensive and this town has no stomach for it. However there are those who are depressed who hold onto the dream.

You mean for those synthetic surface footballs at the two high schools, that can't withstand a bottle of gator-ade, let alone the high school graduation ceremonies? Been mentioned in both the Courant and JI quite a bit.

The good residents of Enfield got hoodwinked when they decided to spend millions on renovating their schools' playing fields.

I live in another town, and am thankful my tax dollars aren't wasted for such. I also don't agree the State should bail them out of their miseries. Its their own fault. Get the money from their elected officials who sold them this bill of goods.

Maybe T-Ville could benefit from one of these "charrettes" mentioned in the Courant. Right now its a dump. a hodge-podge of
vacant buildings, next to rental apartments, and assisted housing.
    Doesn't do anything for Enfield.
No one in their right mind would park a car down there and take the train to work. Their car would be missing or vandalized!

Heard Enfield's Police Chief was caught "cat napping" during last night's townwide Budget meeting. Granted those meetings can be boring but is it too much to ask for a town official to keep their eyes open (even if their minds are closed).

    Per today's Courant, http://www.courant.com/news/local/nc/hc-wlkforum0502.artmay02,0,6492883.story
here's exactly why T-Ville will never, ever have a vibrant railroad station - because Windsor Locks already a vision, has a convenient location, and work is already underway to restore
their station. Give it up Enfield.
Enfielders are better off to travel
to Windsor Locks and catch the train there.

"Windsor Locks would be an ideal stop on a Springfield to New Haven commuter rail line that could be in place by 2011, he said. The rail line would get people into the town and make it an important transportation link with nearby Bradley International Airport."

Why should he stay awake? He got his 6% budget increase wrapped up. EMS will get 12% too. It looks like the Mayor Tat days all over again.

As a taxpayer, former paramedic, accountant, and now auditor, I find this budget absurd.

The council favors a 7% police budget increase. Could the chief be more conservative this year after 2 or 3 years of healthy increase? You bet.

The board of education wants a mere 3%. 2.1 million yet student performance declines. Pay more for less?

With my particular background, what stood out in the budget book were the EMS pages. A 12% add is the latest in a most disturbing trend. Private ambulance services are profitable. Enfield's is not. Why? Since inception, the out of pocket taxpayer cost has tripled with no sign of leveling. Is anyone asking these questions.

I thought the work of exmayor Tat was borderline criminal. The work of the Enfield Board of Education and Town Council majorities shows that a new kind of criminal activity in Enfield.

The Council cut $800,000 from school board's budget request. If that wasn't enough, Andre Greco, the school board's version of exmayor Tat, took 3 quarters of a million more out of their operating budget and gave it to the town council for "safe keeping", ie. for pet projects some that benefit him and his family directly.

The mayor said that he was proud to support the children with this budget. Please, stop helping our children before you hurt them anymore.

This will be the dark ages of Enfield education when we look back in 20 years. It's quite a legacy for these ekected boards. What will these guys do for an encore, reinstitute spanking and take away recess?

Things only get "better" for ol'Enfield. Looks like the Mt Carmel "hangout" and 7th District, Democratic contender Colli's nomination are a topic of conversation these days.
