Heard On The Street:
Oliver, the former junior featherweight title holder, was said to be in great shape, running long distances with trainer Iceman John Scully and sparring many tough rounds with up-and-coming Hartford lightweight Joseph "Chip" Perez.
Michael Parente, a spokesman for the Providence promoter Jimmy Burchfield of Classic Entertainment & Sports, said he did not know why Oliver was off the card. Burchfield, reached Friday morning, said he was in a meeting at Foxwoods and would call back later.
