Fred Burton's Masterful Exposé Of Mossad Murder

A Special Agent's Lifelong Hunt
To Bring a Cold War Assassin to Justice

Governments' Practice & Policy
Of Indifference To Surviving Family Documented

Cool Justice Take
On CHASING SHADOWS:

This is a rare cold case textbook in that it is read for pleasure and excitement as well as enlightenment.Furthermore, it is a book students would actually read. Amazing in the trail it follows, CHASING SHADOWS surpasses its exposition of the thrill of the hunt only in the stunning and, to some, heartwarming conclusion.

Author Fred Burton served as a special agent in counterterrorism for the U.S. Department of State, where he was involved in many high-profile operations.

In this book, Burton solves the murder of the charismatic Israeli fighter pilot Joe Alon in Bethesda, Md in 1973.

Pieces of Myself / Jen Allen's Combo @cdbaby

Jen Allen, piano; Dave Baron, bass; Lee Fish, drums; Kris Allen, alto; Josh Evans, trumpet; Andrew Renfroe, guitar -- great combo led by the renowned Jen Allen ...

    ALBUM NOTES:
Pieces of Myself is a collection of original compositions of Allen's from over the past couple of years. Her compositions represent different pieces of her life as a musician, mother, wife, daughter and friend. Allen brought together the skilled Dave Baron on bass and Lee Fish on drums to make the rhythm section swing and yet at the same time flow amongst the ever changing feels and time signatures of the compositions. To add to this foundation, Allen brings accomplished musicians, Josh Evans on trumpet, Kris Allen on alto and Andrew Renfroe on guitar.

    -- About Jen Allen:

Allen has performed alongside many jazz greats including Nat Reeves, Steve Davis, Dezron Douglas, Charles Flores and Kris Allen. She has performed world wide with many groups including Kendrick Oliver’s New Life Orchestra, the collaborative New Unity Quartet and other jazz and creative music ensembles.

Allen has taught at The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, Hartt School, University of Connecticut Community School of the Arts Jazz Camp and Trinity College.

Originally from Foxboro, Ma, Allen was a cellist who started playing jazz piano as a favor to her high school band director, little knowing that she was finding her true artistic voice. From there she pursued her Bachelors in Music performance at the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz. Allen has been privileged to be able to study under Jackie McLean, Steve Davis, Andy LaVerne and Garry Dial.

  • Yes, U R A Poet; Yes, U R A Writer

The CT Young Writers Trust has a simple and compelling mission: Affirm the work of young poets and writers.

We do this by having great parties and giving away lots of money. Our parties are like sports banquets – except our music is a lot better.

The Rock Of Our Enterprise – Leo Connellan, aka El Bardo The Legend – did not receive that affirmation as a youngster. Instead, he was mocked and ridiculed for wanting to be a poet.

El Bardo got a dose of affirmation winning a Scholastic magazine prize. Still, even as an adult, Connellan was mopping floors and substitute teaching when he won the Shelley Memorial Award for his trilogy, The Clear Blue Lobster Water Country.

  • The Life Of The Poet

  • From Leo Connellan to the new leader of The Trust – poet and professor Ravi Shankar of Central Connecticut State University -- the organization has affirmed the work of 7,000 young poets and writers and given away more than $200,000.

Shankar has worked closely and intently with Trust Administrator Carol Thibeault to examine what has worked in the past and what will work in the future to keep the enterprise viable.

Join Charlotte Crowe, Patricia Smith, Bruce DeSilva, Elizabeth Thomas and The Jen Allen Big Band / Cosmic Jibaros As One Featuring DominiQue Saturday at CCSU to affirm the work of Connecticut’s best young poets and writers. Walk-ins OK. Invitation at bottom of this post.

  • SHORT BIOS
    OF YOUNG LATINO POETS

Melanie Torres Latorre, 18, is from Morovis, Puerto Rico.

I came to Connecticut in the 2008. I went to school in Bridgeport for five months and then I came to Litchfield and I live in Bantam.

I will go to Northwestern Connecticut Community College in the fall. I think I will major in Computer Engineering although writing is a true passion of mine.

    *

Hi, my name is Pamela Hernandez. I'm 16 years old and a junior at the Law & Government Academy at Hartford Public High School.

I was born and raised in Caguas, Puerto Rico. We moved to Hartford in 1999.

My interest as a writer began in 7th grade while attending Quirk Middle School in Hartford. I've been writing ever since. My poetry reflects certain emotional phases and struggles that occur on a daily basis. A poem that will always stay with me is "RI.P." I dedicated this poem to my grandfather after he had passed away.

As years go by, my days are filled with agony knowing that you're not here to see what's happening.

Dirt puddles turn into clouds and the sun becomes a moon that's how you can tell that your death has taken my life out of tune

I was proud to become a part of the Poetry Out Loud program the fall of my junior year. My teacher, Mrs. Donna Frustere, was a great help. She allowed me to see poetry through different eyes.

Later in the year I participated in the State Preliminary Competition for Poetry Out Loud at Classical Magnet School. There I recited a piece by Jimmy Baca Santiago, "Who Understands Me But Me." This great opportunity helped me work on my public speaking.

A lot of people inspire me. My culture is the most significant inspiration in my life, which includes people like my family, friends and community.

My future plans are to finish high school and go off to college to study to be a mortician. Poetry to me is a connection between life and death: It's similarities and it's differences and how they intertwine.

    *

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Laura Adames came to the United States when she was 10 years old.

From a very early age she engaged in singing at her church back at home, and this passion continued throughout the course of her life. She found a passion for poetry, and she learned to incorporate poetry in her songs, to make meaningful music.

She is greatly influenced by neo-soul, hip-hop & R&B, jazz, merengue. Her favorite Spanish artist is Juan Luis Guerra, whom she hopes to work with some time during her career. She currently enjoys listening to Juan Luis Guerra, Erykah Badu, Bilal Salaam, Rita Indiana, Alejandro Sanz, Rocio Durcal, Buika, Bebo & Cigala, and many others.

She writes short stories, poems, and songs and she hopes to use art as a tool to speak for the oppressed and those she feels have no voice.
